Recently, a promotion for the popular mobile game Love and Deepspace specifically targeted the “Shimmering Blend” series of cocktails, causing a scandal due to the author’s blatant carelessness.
The developers released drink recipes with beautiful names and decorated them with datura and fire lilies. However, fans soon noticed that both plants were deadly: lilies can cause severe delirium and hallucinations, and lilies contain deadly colchicine, which can cause shock.
The appearance of dangerous plants in the promotional materials for “Love and Deep Space” is not an accidental mistake by the SMM department, but a reference to the plot. Both flowers are directly related to the history and character of beloved flowers. As such, the fiery lily accompanies Raphael’s romantic lines, is mentioned in Love Timeline entries and Eternal Bond episodes, and the protagonist even has it drawn on her watch. In turn, the Dark Datala is closely associated with Cyrus and appears in his stories, such as “Embroidery Vivid”.
Furthermore, the developers integrated these plants directly into the game mechanics: players can grow dataura and lilies independently in the home system and then give them to characters to enhance their relationships. That’s why fans who notice the game’s familiar flowers in “real” cocktail recipes are ringing alarm bells – after all, the romanticization of dangerous floral symbols in games poses almost a real threat to the health of inattentive fans.
The community immediately sounded the alarm in the comments, calling for the removal of dangerous cards that naive players might try to copy at home. Just two days later, the studio was forced to issue an official warning that the recipes were pure fiction. The incident coincides with an intense fan campaign against the unreleased Valko character, making for a red-hot week for the game’s creators.
