Qualcomm has reportedly unveiled an updated architecture for its Oryon processor core that will allow the company’s mobile chips to overcome the 5 GHz barrier while increasing performance per clock Technical points.

The new Oryon core will be able to operate at frequencies above 5 GHz, which will bring significant performance improvements to the next generation of flagship mobile devices. Qualcomm claims that processors based on the new Oryon architecture will be the fastest among mobile solutions. The transition to more advanced technology processes and further optimization of Oryon’s own microarchitecture helped the company achieve such high frequencies.

Judging from the slideshow, the next-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile processor will be equipped with two Oryon Prime cores clocked at over 5GHz and six high-performance Performance cores. In addition to increasing the frequency, Qualcomm is also promising improved performance per clock (IPC), so the performance increase isn’t just due to the extra megahertz.
The most important innovation will be the updated FlexCache cache architecture. In a heterogeneous configuration, processor cores have access to a common pool of cache memory, the capacity of which can be dynamically allocated based on the nature of the load. In particular, Prime Core will be able to use the entire available cache pool if necessary.
This approach allows you to store more of the data needed for your calculations directly in the processor cache and access slower RAM less frequently. Qualcomm said the advantages of the new architecture should also be reflected in agent-based artificial intelligence systems, games, multi-tasking scenarios and video editing.
