Google may be developing a new app specifically for Mac computers. This is suggested by a reference identified in the latest version of Google Play Services which states that it is possible to create a Standalone versions of Google apps for macOS.
The discovery comes after the app expanded to Windows, where several Google services were already available on Apple devices, but the presence on desktop platforms was decidedly less complete.

The clue comes from Google Play Services version 26.36.30, where the reference is called MAC_GOOGLE_APP. There are no details yet, at least yet, on what the program will be like or how it will be distributed.
However, this reference represents an interesting sign, as Google has already followed a similar path with Windows. Google apps will be widely available on Microsoft operating systems in April 2026, after testing through Search Labs starting in September 2025.
